Description

The new Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) credential lets you highlight your specific area of expertise. Now, you can easily distinguish yourself as an expert in database administration, database development, or business intelligence.

The four IT Professional certifications currently available at New Horizons are as follows:

  • IT Professional: Database Developer
  • IT Professional: Database Administrator
  • IT Professional: Business Intelligence Developer
  • IT Professional: Enterprise Support Technician

The Microsoft Information Technology Professional: Database Developer

Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Database Developer (MCITP: Database Developer) is the premier certification for database designers and developers. This credential demonstrates that you can design a secure, stable, enterprise database solution by using Microsoft SQL Server 2005.

Database developers design and implement relational database models (logical and physical) and database storage objects. They also program servers by using user-defined functions, triggers, stored procedures, Transact-SQL, or the CLR. They retrieve or modify data using SQL queries or tune and optimize queries. Database developers are typically employed by mid-sized to large-sized organizations.

Microsoft Skills Assessments for SQL Server 2005 help database developers focus their exam preparation training and find learning resources.

How to Earn Your MCITP: Database Developer

MCITP candidates must first complete the requirements for the MCTS: SQL Server 2005 credential (one exam). After earning this credential, candidates earn their MCITP: Database Developer by passing two required exams. The following table provides a complete list of exams and related training resources. For exam dates and specific areas of focus, see individual Exam Preparation Guides as the exams become available.

The Microsoft Certified Information Technology Professional: Database Administrator

Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Database Administrator (MCITP: Database Administrator) is the premier certification for database server administrators. This certification demonstrates that you can keep up with your enterprise business solutions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Database administrators install or configure Microsoft SQL Server and manage or maintain databases or multidimensional databases, user accounts, database availability, recovery, and reporting. They also design or implement security or server automation and monitor and troubleshoot SQL Server activity. Database administrators are typically employed by mid-size to large organizations.
